MONTALBAN is the result of a personal and spiritual development parallel with an extension of my technical capability and possibilities. Both got an expression in the formal development of my work. MONTALBAN ist das Resultat einer persönlichen geistigen Entwicklung parallel zu einer Erweiterung meiner technischen Möglichkeiten und Fähigkeiten. Beides fand einen Ausdruck in der formalen Entwicklung meiner Arbeit.

First there was a challenging task, I got from Mettler Toledo enterprise, to find a non abstract symbol for a "harmonious group". We decited, that "seasons" would be very promising and I began to develop a series with floral and other impressions. Am Anfang stand ein reizvoller Auftrag der Firma Mettler Toledo, ein gegenständliches Symbol für "harmonische Gruppe" zu finden. Wir entschieden uns für "JahresZeiten" und ich begann eine Serie mit floralen und anderen Impressionen.

Continuing the series, I begann to add small digital compositions as associations to the main motivs. Im Verlauf dieser Serie begann ich kleine im Computer entwickelte Motive als Assoziationen den HauptMotiven beizufügen.

At last I combined digital and traditional creation. For example: A snowflake over the labyrinth of the famous cathedral of Chartre as a allusion to the "Golden Section". From this arose a smal series, which was edited by "Verkerke Reproducties" (NL) in autumn 1999. Zuletzt kombinierte ich digitale und traditionelle GestaltungsMöglichkeiten. Beispiel: Eine SchneeFlocke über dem berühmten Labyrinth von Chartre als Hinweis auf den "Goldenen Schnitt". Daraus entstand eine eigene kleine Serie, die vom "Verkerke"-Verlag Holland im Herbst 1999 verlegt wurde.

While I was developing these series, I dealed engrossed with themes of occidental mysticism and ZEN buddhism - two fields I am interessted in already for many years. At the same time I got a new powerful computer graphic system and a high resolution printer for large sizes. I discovered new possibilities of creations with an absolute perfection in form & color and found new ways to express the feeling of my spiritual interests. Während ich diese Serien entwickelte, beschäftigte ich mich mit abendländischer Mystik und ZEN-Buddhismus, zwei ThemenGebiete, die mich bereits seit vielen Jahren interessieren und inspirieren. Gleichzeitig erhielt ich ein neues leistungsfähiges ComputerGrafikSystem und einen GroßFormatDrucker mit sehr hoher Auflösung. Ich entdeckte, daß ich mit den damit entstanden Möglichkeiten absoluter Perfektion in Form und Farbe neue Wege hatte, die Gefühle meiner sprituellen Interessen auszudrücken.

First I combined - again, but in a new way - traditional motives with digital designs. Zuerst kombinierte ich erneut, aber auf etwas andere Weise, traditionell gestaltete Motive mit digital hergestellten.

On the occasion of the series "24 Lilies", which I presented in autumn 1998, I showed at first time a total digitaly created motif. The resonance was extreme positive, so that I could see, that I hat chosen the right way, to express my intensions. Anlässlich der Ausstellung "24 Lilien" im Herbst 1998 zeigte ich das erste Mal ein total digital entstandenes Motiv. Die Resonanz war äußerst positiv und ich sah, dass ich einen neuen Weg gefunden hatte, meine Intensionen auszudrücken.

Each motif is a composition of up to 40 single parts with individual arrangements in colour, contrast, sharpeness etc.. To bring all these parts together to a clear composition is one of the distinguishing marks of this series. Jedes Motiv dieser Serie stellt eine Komposition von bis zu 40 EinzelTeilen dar, von denen jedes unterschiedlich in Farbe, Kontrast, Schärfe etc. bearbeitet wurde, um exakt das von mir gewünschte Resultat zu erhalten. Alle diese Teile wiederum zu einer klaren Komposition zusammenzufügen ist eine der anspruchvollsten technischen und gestalterischen Aufgaben bei der Erstellung dieser Serie.
